Fashions by Evelyn is a business built on years of experience in garment design, alterations and gown re-creation.

My passion for sewing began at a young age, out of a necessity to redesign and alter hand-me-down clothing. This early interest led me to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where I refined my skills in pattern-making, textiles, and garment construction.

Education and mentorship are core to my professional journey. I have served as an adjunct professor at VCU, where I shared my expertise with aspiring designers, and taught middle school students in the VCU Summer Discovery program to introduce young minds to the fashion world.

I worked as an alterations specialist for Nordstrom where I specialized in garment fitting and custom alterations. I gained a base of regular clients and was happy to be able to branch out on my own.

My current focus is making and altering bridal wear, redesigning Vintage garments into modern wear, prom dresses, mother of the bride and bridesmaids.

I have worked with non-profit organizations  including designing garments for the American Heart Association’s "Cure by Design" fashions shows and created apparel for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

I feel very blessed to work closely each client to bring their visions to life!
